Cuba facts
You see Che Guevara everywhere in Cuba. The iconic revolutionary helped Fidel Castro overthrow the dictator Batista on New Year’s Day in 1959. Today, the country with a population of 11 million is still communist-run, however it’s very much open to foreign tourism. Boutique hotels have appeared in the capital, Havana, and luxury hotels in Varadero. But you won’t find the chain shops and coffee bars seen in most countries across the world. And that all adds to its unique charm.
